And assurances poured in that everything would be done to be able to vote with machines in the upcoming European and early parliamentary elections. The question is - to what extent can they be trusted?
First, according to tradition, the leader of GERB appeared. In his style, he declared: “I am a staunch supporter of machine voting and I will do my best to keep the machines”. Although it is still remembered how the machines were sacrificed during the first round of the local elections without him declaring that he was shocked by it.
The acting minister of e-governance was not left behind either.
"The first and main task of the Ministry of Electronic Government (MEG) is to certify the compliance of technical devices for machine voting. I come with the request that this authentication be made as public and transparent as possible". This was stated, quoted by BTA, the official minister of e-governance Valentin Mundrov, who participated in the meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee and gave information to the people's representatives about the preparation of the machine vote in the upcoming elections.
The official minister also assured that the department he leads will make every effort to ensure that there are no technical problems with video recording and video broadcasting after the end of the election day.
Whether these generous promises will be fulfilled remains to be seen. Not that the machines are decisive in the election, acting as printers, but at least they reduce the possibility of a controlled vote and the percentage of invalid ballots goes down.
