Radan Kanev: The extreme right will be a minority in the European Parliament - 1

There is no European country where the EP election campaign is one month long – it is between a year and 6 months. I have always relied on personal preferences, especially in this strong list of PP-DB.

This is what MEP Radan Kanev, who is again a candidate for the European Parliament on the list of the PP-DB, said in an interview with BNR.

He pointed out that European policy solves many local problems.

17 MEPs is an average representation. Bulgaria is not small. Perhaps the mentality of some politicians in Brussels is small, said Radan Kanev.

"Many people in Bulgaria, well educated and well disposed towards the EU, do not know how important legislative work the EP does – that you do not represent Bulgaria in some mythical Brussels", commented the MEP in the show "First of all".

Our citizens and businesses are beginning to realize that Brussels does not impose anything, Kanev believes.

There have been a series of decisions that have led to fully justified reactions from citizens, the MEP pointed out regarding Euroscepticism caused by policies such as the Green Deal. The planting of a "common, simple, black and white picture in public opinion" is very dangerous, the MEP pointed out.

"The extreme right, deeply divided and fragmented in the EP, will remain a critical minority,", predicted Radan Kanev.

"There will be a wave on the right, but there will not be an anti-European wave. Whoever makes this calculation will remain very deceived."

In his words, the war in Ukraine has changed strategically for European politics the realization that Europe is 20 years behind in the field of security and defense. Bulgaria has a serious but old-fashioned defense industry, he added.
