At the height of the season, the question that excites consumers is: will the prices of fruits and vegetables go up or down? Because of the frequent hailstorms, producers are predicting a weaker harvest this year. The price of fresh potatoes is quite low. Cucumbers are sold from BGN 1.4 to BGN 2.5, they are Bulgarian. By the way, there are enough Bulgarian goods.

How these forecasts will affect wholesale prices is checked by a BNT team in one of the largest commodity exchanges in our country - the one in the village of Parvenets.

"On an annual basis, there is one increase, we are talking compared to last year in the same period, but the market is stable. The prices are high for fruits and vegetables that are out of season - peppers, watermelons, melons, but they are expected to fall. At the moment, our tomatoes are traded from BGN 2 to BGN 3.80, the most expensive being the nice pink tomato. Cucumbers are sold from BGN 1.4 to BGN 2.5, they are Bulgarian. By the way, there are enough Bulgarian goods.

The price of fresh potatoes is quite low compared to a month ago and costs around 80 cents per kilogram. Perhaps there will be a problem with pepper seen outdoors for those farmers whose crops have been damaged by hail. In the case of cherries, the price is high mainly because there are no workers to pick the cherries and the production becomes more expensive," commented Iliya Gatev - director of the stock exchange in the village of Parvenets.

According to him, imports from Turkey and Greece also dictate the prices of Bulgarian goods.
