„Government with the first mandate, if any support – it will not be a party support from ITN. It could be some kind of amorphous support from some of the MPs from the various parliamentary groups. Rather, this is the scenario that must be sought. How successful will this be, how legitimate will it be… a lot can be commented on this issue," said Rumiana Kolarova.
She explained that there are a variety of practices in seeking support. “When we think about the future of such a cabinet, there is also the practice of parties that are basically opposition, but assist in the implementation of government policy. In Denmark this happens often. I can cite an academic study that states that such a strategy can be both profitable and losing for a party”, explained the political scientist.
In her words, this move by ITN to vote for the Speaker of the National Assembly, while at the same time declaring that they will not as a party support a cabinet with the first mandate, is a winning move for them. “I think it is possible to have “motley support”. Even more, it's GERD they did it. will they do it now – it is not clear”, she emphasized.
”I think that it is quite difficult for Mr. Borisov at the moment. Because the model that Ms. Kolarova is talking about was possible in times when GERD was strong. In practice, they formed some kind of coalitions in which support could be guaranteed, Milcheva said.
