„Borisov laments the lost billions from the Recovery and Sustainability Plan (RPS). Corruptors and thieves do not deserve a legal umbrella.

This is what he wrote on "Facebook" the co-chairman of “Continuing the Change“ (PP) Kiril Petkov.

Kiril Petkov made sharp criticisms of GERB leader Boyko Borisov in connection with the Recovery and Sustainability Plan (RPS). In a post on Facebook, Petkov said that GERB tried to impose legislation that would protect Borisov's administration before 2021 from corruption and abuse checks.

Earlier in the day, the chairman of the parliamentary group of "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" Nikolay Denkov expressed the position that it is necessary for the law to provide protection for all those who report illegal practices, regardless of the time of the violation. The aim is to ensure that whistleblowers are protected and wrongdoers are punished.

Kiril Petkov added that one of the most important laws in order to receive the funds from the European Union under PVU is the one on reporting corruption and abuses. He noted that GERB wanted the law to be formulated in such a way that it would not affect Borisov's rule before 2021. According to Petkov, this would not only not be accepted by the European Commission, but would also not work in the interest of Bulgarian citizens.

"That is why today we introduced a workable bill that is fair and has no 'exceptions'," emphasized Petkov in his publication.

Kiril Petkov ended his post with a rhetorical question: "Borisov did not want this law to cover reports of corruption during his administration! Why???"

According to Petkov, no one should be above the law, including those who held high government positions in the past.
