„Evelin Banev-Brendo we can let's say it's a fossil – one of the last Mohicans of more savage crime. One of the last major players from the time of the turbulent transition in Bulgaria”, commented the criminalist Ivan Savov in the bTV studio.
Declared nationally and internationally wanted, Evelin Banev-Brendo surrendered to the police yesterday. He went to the Central Sofia Prison at 7:30 in the morning and was detained.
„This is a man who has had a very long career – somewhat controversial. A person who is involved in financial scams with the former bank “Biochem“. A similar type of person works at the beginning no matter what and subsequently becomes an increasingly important factor and player, Savov also said.
According to him, usually, for the career of such a person to start, someone pulls him. Savov doesn't know for sure who is the man pulling Brendo. Names such as Doctor and Taki are mentioned.
For the criminalist, it is very interesting why Evelin Banev surrendered right now. According to him, there is something that bothers him to stay out.
„He knows very well that if he goes to prison, he will be protected and will stay alive,”, Savov believes.
According to lawyer Dimitar Markovski, this is a very well thought out move.
„In the prison, the security is serious and it is very difficult to break through and get someone to be liquidated. Better in prison alive than out free but dead. "In my opinion, Brendo made a choice for survival," commented Markovski.
