GERB no longer has its voice for making policies. The leader and mentor in this political puzzle is the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF). This should be clear to everyone. Former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov commented on this in the show "No Claims". according to Daric. In his words, this is exactly why GERB has made such a large outflow of real voters.
He defined as political populism the claims of GERB leader Boyko Borisov that the threat signals against him are related to his positions on the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In the middle of the week, amid pictures of increased security around Borisov's home, he admitted that one of the most powerful services in the world had warned him that it had received a very serious tip about a threat of the highest level against him. Borisov then stated that he explained the danger with his positions on the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“What is being released into the public space, that it is a potential threat from Russia, let us recall that Bulgaria is the most hesitant in its support for Ukraine. Imagine what is happening in other countries where they are much more hawkish about their support for Ukraine. They have already provided military equipment that is used on the front. From this point of view, I think that this is more political populism and any comment that we can make on this topic will not be completely objective, because we do not know what the real information is that the competent institutions have discussed and planned the relevant measures .”, commented the former interior minister.
In the event that the threat to Borisov actually comes along geopolitical lines, Tsvetanov developed another hypothesis. As the reason for the danger signal, the former interior minister suspected the behavior of the leader of GERB, in which Tsvetanov sees a change.
„The answer must be taken, if we assume that this is a threat from Russia to Borisov, is it not related to his change in behavior, because we know that he was the main actor in the implementation and release of "Turkish Stream". Because let me remind you that Turk Stream has never been considered as a possible strategic project in the country. It became possible when Ukraine had to be implemented and bypassed.
Borisov made a big strategic mistake with the implementation of "Turkish Stream". Unfortunately, we cannot say that Borisov is Euro-Atlantic in its full content, because he implemented "Turkish Stream". If we go back in time, just a few months, we see that the rotation and assembly could not continue precisely because of these topics – because of "Turkish Stream”, he also said.
