Ivan Anchev in front of FACTS: Trump-Dee Vance are like father and son, Walz's entry into Harris' headquarters aims to o - 1

The upcoming televised debate between US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is a hot topic around the world. But it is also a fact that Kamala Harris took away Trump's concentration, and the polls report an increase for her. Kamala Halis named Tim Walz as her vice president. What to expect from Trump – Dee Vance and Harris – Waltz… Ivan Anchev, co-chairman of the Atlantic Council of Bulgaria, spoke to FAKTI.

- Mr. Anchev, four months before the US elections, Joe Biden resigned. Did you do it yourself or was it withdrawn?
- Joe Biden is a long-term politician with a high responsibility to his country, so it is possible that this is his decision, but the option of certain pressure from leading figures in the Democratic Party should not be excluded. In recent months, there was indeed a sense that he might not have the strength for a second term as leader of the United States and the free world. In this aspect, people like Nancy Pelosi, as well as other top leaders in the Democratic Party - not to mention the reaction of Hollywood star George Clooney, said what people in the Democratic Party think of as a democratic organism.

- Many analysts shared that Barack Obama has “pressed“ donors who give a lot of money to the Democratic campaign in general to stop. Without millions of campaign dollars, elections in the US are impossible. Did influential people in the Democratic Party “pull the brakes“ of Biden?
- US presidential election campaigns often exceed a billion dollars in fundraising, so donating is extremely important. See,

Washington is a special organism that hides its own political secrets

and they are sometimes unpredictable and do not become known to the general public. Michelle Obama is understood to have considered her candidacy.

- It's a fact that people accept her very well…
- Michelle Obama had her very visible role as First Lady, which - after all, is different from being the President of the United States as a responsibility. As the President of the USA, the responsibilities are many times higher, the world affairs are many times more responsible, if we compare them with the tasks of a First Lady, which are mainly reduced to the sphere of humanitarian activities, cultural activities, social activities, etc. .n. Being the First Lady is one thing, being the President of the United States is quite another. It is also understood that the Obamas have no appetite for the presidency. And, yes, there have been reports that Barack Obama worked to influence President Biden's decision. But, look, Biden is a highly responsible politician. He has over 50 years of involvement in public and political affairs. For me, you can't just talk about pressure on him to withdraw, because he made a correct political decision for the American society.

- “Lifebelt“ is Kamala Harris for the Democrats, or do you think she has a real chance against Trump?
- Here we can already talk about “the wave” Harris, which is seen in that part of American society that supports the Democratic Party. Support for her is growing, and this can be seen in one of the latest studies that was done in the state of Georgia. While the Democratic candidate was Joe Biden, Donald Trump led with 8%. Now that Kamal Halis has entered the political scene, Trump's lead has dropped to 2%. The interesting thing about this state is that the president who won Georgia at the time was Jimmy Carter, who was the governor of the state of Georgia before that. These are trends that should not be ignored. It is difficult to predict at the moment which of the two candidates - Trum or Harris - will be better received. However, the fact is that until now – and after the assassination especially, Trump's campaign was running at a greater speed, at a greater pace, and riding on the wings of a foretold victory. But now there are already significant trends that this is not such a foretold battle, and it is possible that Kamala Harris will be the ultimate winner. Opinion polls are an indisputable barometer because America's 320 million is divided. It is known which states are Republican and which are Democratic. And it will all be decided by a few of the so-called swing states that are subject to the interests of both staffs.
At the same time, a New York Times study came out this Saturday that

Kamala Harris leads Trump by almost four percentage points in three key states - Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

So the dynamics among the electorate is extremely high at the moment and it is very likely that the final winner will be announced with a photo finish.

- Trump-Dee Vance vs. Harris-Waltz. Which pair looks more convincing?
- Trump - Dee Vance are like father and son. They have exactly the same political profile, they send the same political messages. Waltz's entry into Harris' staff and the Democratic Party campaign in general sought to make as wide an opening as possible among the American public. Harris has no American roots because her parents are immigrants, and Waltz is the typical American. When I read his biography, an image of the typical American emerged before me. Engaged in community service, coaching football or in some other type of sport, strongly committed to the education system, which is an extremely important topic in American society. And this is because the leaders, the directors of the educational districts are directly elected by the people. And all this, which is the main part of American society, makes a huge difference with the political elite in Washington. And the difference is even more characteristic when we talk about the Midwest - the populated states that are the most American part of America. I was there for four years as Consul General and just in charge of the Middle West. Everything is completely different there, the public mood is completely different there, if we compare them to the two coasts, there is the one-story America, which has its values, the people there are different from those in megacities like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Yes, casting Dee Vance as a Midwesterner shouldn't be ruled out – he's from ohio, and that's also a target of team trump. But the selection of Walz as VP on Harris' staff may be just that - to cater to those swing votes in swing states and benefit the Democratic Party.

- Prosecutor Harris against the accused Trump, but in the battle for the presidency of the United States. What kind of collision is this?
- Back in the day, Ronald Reagan was called the brilliant communicator. I define Donald Trump today as the brilliant manipulator, but in the good sense of the word. I emphasize this. Trump has a huge media reflex, he has media experience not only from his shows…

- And we saw this during the attack…
- Yes, he is remarkable in this respect. There is nothing to talk about. Trump - from a political point of view, is an absolute benchmark in political marketing. I just haven't seen another person like that in recent years. Yes, each of those who take some kind of political responsibility is more or less schooled, trained in how to smile, how to pat children on the head, etc. But what we're seeing with Trump -- I'm not just referring to the four years of his presidency, when he was in a daily, hourly war with his opponents -- is something very different. Trump and during the Biden presidency showed that he has a remarkable reflex. As you said, even at a time when he was literally inches away from death, to come out with his fist raised and chant, “Fight, fight, fight…“ It's something you just get from God.

So DA Harris will have a tough time against the manipulator Trump.

And I will repeat that when I use the word manipulator, I mean the good sense of the word. There is something else about this fight that makes Trump very special. As we already know, there is a whole moniker called Trumpism in the US. It's like in South America when we talk about politics in the 70s of Juan Peron and Peronism. We don't have Bushists or Clintonists in the US, although President Bush the father was a wonderful president. But there are Trumpists. And this is precisely because of this socio-political charisma that Trump has, which he carries with him for a huge part of American society. Of course, this is also one of the reasons why he is endlessly hated by the other part of society. We also saw this in the assassination attempt. That it was unsuccessful is fortunate for Trump, but the act itself should be unequivocally condemned, because this type of violence - against anyone - should not exist. We've seen the FBI talk about a second assassination attempt on Trump. So Trump is currently between hosanna and crucify him. On one side are those who like it, and on the other are those in whom it provokes a frenzied hatred generated in the last eight years.
