Is the country becoming hostage to the battle for DPS? Will we have the Constitutional crisis as well as two DPS brands in the elections… Orhan Ismailov - chairman of the political party “People's Party of Freedom and Dignity” spoke to FAKTI on the subject.
- Mr. Ismailov, what are we witnessing? Is the crisis reflected in the DPS of the state?
- Absolutely. It cannot help but be reflected. I said recently that in recent years we see a political turbulence that is passing into a deep crisis in parliamentarism, at the national level, I would even say the value.
- Why is it so important that Kalin Stoyanov is a minister?
- It is important that Kalin Stoyanov is minister for the KOJ model. Because of him, the “assembly” fell apart, he remained in Dimitar Glavchev's office, and now we see how he is the reason why Gorica Kozhareva does not have an office. As a post, the Minister of Internal Affairs is a very big tool in the hands of all political players.
- Can the state become a hostage of one person, and he was also a minister?
- Apparently it can. His personality does not lead to any unification, but works well for disunity. If we continue like this, I will not be surprised if there will be an eighth after these elections.
- To date, it is not known when the seventh will be…
- He has that moment, yes. We're just in such a stalemate. And these constitutional changes that were made on foot, that turned out to be flawed, and the results are there.
- When we talk about constitutional changes, we remember that Delyan Peevski was very active. He was one of the people who spoke the most about why it was important to have such a majority to make these changes to the Basic Law…
- Now we hear that the PP-DB is currently inviting all parties in the parliament to talks in order to see how and what to do to avoid this crisis.
- Can there be elections without DPS?
- It's entirely possible. Currently, DPS has two co-presidents. According to their Articles of Association, they may sign individually or jointly. But there the depth of the conflict escalated. We see how the state instruments started to work as “clubs” that one side uses. No wonder in the end it happens that they don't have registration, they can't participate in both. I guess both camps are cooking up different options and scenarios. Even if they can't with the DPS brand, because now at the moment it is not known who belongs to whom in DPS. Some keep the site, the headquarters is broken, Peevski is the chairman of the parliamentary group, the others are independent MPs. I am talking about the people who decided to support the authentic DPS in the person of Mr. Dogan. So there are different variants, variations and combinations. We may have two DPS lists, they may not participate at all, they may participate through other parties, use other registrations or enter coalitions. In my opinion, they cannot afford not to participate, because the non-participation of either party in DPS means that it leaves the political map.
- Have you ever imagined that there could be two DPS in Bulgaria?
- Yes, I also said it in the FACTS studio. Delyan Peevski at the head of the DPS meant the end of the DPS and the start of another beginning, the so-called new and all remain in the past. A person simply, when he is omnivorous and wants everything, it is a matter of time. You can't eat honey with a bear. Hard work.
- Many people who left the DPS tried to make political projects, but against the background of a stable DPS they did not succeed. What to expect now - a shred…
- This has happened with fragmentation over the years as well. I am the chairman of one of them - the political party "People's Party of Freedom and Dignity".
- That's why I asked you. It is not easy to fight with DPS?
- Look, we have always been opposition-minded, and we have said these things over the years. When an economic center is created in a party that controls the backstage and governs, a critical point is reached. But this is not only in DPS. This is also the case in other parties. Now we see how this center uses the institutions for self-torture.
- What is the difference in the split in DPS before and now?
- Now things are on a very large scale. I predicted this back in January. At the moment, Peevski's power is greater. Many of the people who are around him, many of the structures are financially dependent on him and not only that. That is, they choose him because they have, in one form or another, dependence on Peevski.
- In this sense, should we understand that the corporation is currently stronger than the ideals in DPS?
- Ideals always win - sooner or later. But at the moment things are leaning towards Peevski. At first 14 withdrew from DPS and became independent, then others. The powers then level off over time. Someone realizes, another repents, a third unwittingly messed up the button. There are such moments in politics. The events at the moment are very unpredictable, because they are very dynamic, but, in the end, this is not good for Bulgarian politics, nor for Bulgarian society, nor for the ordinary citizen.
