On the border with Romania, the traffic is intense at the border checkpoints (BCP) “Vidin“ and “Cardamom“ at the exit for trucks and cars. Border authorities recommend using alternative routes.

Temporary organization of the traffic has been introduced due to the main repair of the Bulgarian section of the Danube bridge near Ruse. The traffic takes place in one lane with a through mode and is regulated by a traffic light system. In addition to the Ruse checkpoint, drivers in the region can also go to the Silistra checkpoint, Kardam checkpoint, Durankulak checkpoint, Kaynardzha checkpoint. and "Krushari" checkpoint. The last two are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day, and trucks are not allowed to pass through them.
On the border with Greece, traffic is normal at all border checkpoints.
In connection with the significantly increased crossings through the border crossing “Kulata“ and checkpoint “Makaza“ due to the large number of Romanian tourists traveling to and from Greece, the State Police advises to use alternative checkpoints on the Bulgarian-Greek border, which are less busy and allow faster passage.
Tourists traveling to resorts in the area of Thessaloniki, Kavala and the Halkidiki Peninsula can pass through the Ilinden checkpoint as an alternative to the Kulata checkpoint. Tourists traveling to resorts in the area of Xanthi, Komotini and o. Thassos, can use the "Zlatograd" checkpoint as an alternative to the "Makaza" checkpoint. For resorts in the area of Alexandroupolis, it is recommended to go through the checkpoint "Captain Petko voivoda".
Through the border points “Makaza", “Zlatograd“ and “Ivaylovgrad“ only cars and vans are allowed to pass.
On the borders with Serbia and Turkey, traffic is normal at all border checkpoints.
On the border with the Republic of North Macedonia, traffic is also normal at all border checkpoints.
At the end of August at the Gueshevo border crossing began the implementation of the activities under the contract related to the construction of the European Union (EU) Entry/Exit System, recalled the “Border Police”. The cabins for border checks of passing trucks will be dismantled and replaced with new ones. The traffic of passing trucks will be temporarily diverted through the lanes for passing cars. Certain difficulties are possible when crossing the Gueshevo border crossing.
