President Rumen Radev will participate in a ceremony for the opening of a production base for armored defense equipment in Burgas from 11:00 a.m. today, announced the press office of the head of state, BTA reported.
The world manufacturer of armored vehicles International Armored Group (IAG), with a Bulgarian owner, supplies the armed forces of the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. At its plant in our country, the company will produce for the world markets various types of armored vehicles according to NATO standards, drones for rescue, reconnaissance and emergency missions, military cranes for evacuation and light patrol cars.
The initial investment is expected to exceed BGN 20 million, and it is expected that Bulgarian specialists will work mainly in the production base in our country, and the number of employees will reach over 300 people.
At the beginning of July, the head of state visited a newly built production base in Burgas of the company International Armored Group (IAG), which specializes in the production of armored vehicles for world markets.
The training of qualified personnel in our country and the contribution of the defense industry to economic growth and employment were discussed during the visit. President Radev noted the importance of industrial cooperation, the development of logistics and opportunities to support defense capabilities in the process of modernization of the Bulgarian Army. The introduction of high-tech solutions in the production of defense equipment and the attraction of scientific circles were also topics of conversation.
