„During and after the end of World War II, Europe has always relied on the US to ensure its security and defense and to deter its opponents. However, the world is changing – the final results of this election look set to change the world even more.“
This was stated in “This Morning” the former Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev.
„Even if Harris manages to reverse the result, Republicans already have a guaranteed majority in the Senate. America is focused on its own interests, not on sharing values and concern for world order,”, he noted.
„Europe must learn to act independently to guarantee its security and economy. For Europe, the biggest problem will remain Ukraine”, pointed out the former Minister of Defense.
„In all matters of defense, Europe relied on the leadership of the United States. Will there be this leadership in Europe, will Europe be able to act unitedly with an understanding of common interests, or will it be increasingly penetrated by Russian interests – because it already is, we have to see”, Tagarev pointed out.
In his words, the old continent must take much greater responsibility for its own security.
According to Tagarev, the USA will not leave NATO, but it remains to be seen how actively they will act in the alliance.
He noted that the states have a fairly clear and consistent policy in support of Israel.
According to him, the conflict in the Middle East has biblical dimensions, and Israel has already managed to limit the potential of Iran and its proxies, "but this is a short-term solution, a permanent solution - it will be difficult to find.
"In the first term, Trump did not have the experience, this time we assume that he will surround himself with people with radical views, but I do not expect radical actions," Tagarev pointed out.
