We have no reason to withdraw the candidacy of Raya Nazaryan for chairman of the National Assembly. This was stated in the program "Hello, Bulgaria" on Nova TV the deputy chairman of GERB Daniel Mitov.
The decision of the PP-DB to support the candidacy of Silvi Kirilov, Mitov defined as a “wink” to “Revival”.
„They know that if they refuse to support the GERB-SDS candidate, they must seek a majority for the Speaker of the National Assembly, which cannot but include “Vazrazhdane”, explained Mitov.
„On the other hand, this is a move towards new elections. PP-DB are seeking to elect not a Speaker of the National Assembly, but a potential future Prime Minister. This is what they are aiming for," Daniel Mitov said.
The result of going to elections in a democracy, the goal should be a governing majority and a stable cabinet, he added.
„According to the rules of the democratic process, when the elections are over, someone from the party that won the elections becomes the President of the National Assembly. After that, talks can begin to form a regular cabinet. When a management formula is drawn up, then someone else can become the speaker of the parliament,”, commented Mitov.
According to him, at the moment, PP-DB is only setting conditions that lead the country to new elections. “If they want to achieve something, they should sit down at the negotiating table”, said Mitov.
„When it came to the things they included in their declaration, we suggested they meet the legal teams, they refused. This could untie the knot and move towards a leadership meeting. There can be one when there is also the attitude of talking about a governing majority. Otherwise, what leadership meeting? And who is the leader there? One says: “Come to a leadership meeting”. The other says: “I will not govern with GERB”, commented Mitov.
