A statement by the chairman of “There is such a people“ in the health committee yesterday caused a wave of dissatisfaction and indignation. We are talking about the statement of Toshko Yordanov, who addressed young doctors with the condition that if they do not want to work for 500 leva, foreign personnel can be brought in to do so.
An apology and sharp reactions followed in parliament and among doctors. And calls for Yordanov's resignation poured in on social networks. Today, in the show “Face to Face“ on bTV, he described his statement from yesterday as “too emotional“ and apologized again.
“I will repeat again - I did not want to offend any doctor. This was a working meeting in a dialogical mode and I spoke more emotionally – after all, I am not a robot“, he explained.
And he said that there was no point in asking him questions about his resignation.
„By this logic, for any opinion different from mine, I should demand the resignation of someone, anyone. This is my opinion about one request – which I think is not correct, about the proposal that we have made – how it solves the people's requests“, he specified.
When asked about the language he usually uses during parliamentary sessions, he replied:
„Look, one option is to speak, including in parliament, with a curt language, not saying anything – because parliament is a place for discussion, including the heating up of passions. I can pick out moments from almost every MP when they were emotional or angry, but that has never bothered me – the language of MPs when they are emotional“.
And he stated that for him, the use of expressions like “slut“ and “political genders“ – is emotional language and not necessarily offensive.
