Gardev: Rutte's visit to Bulgaria is a sign that NATO is building a defensive border - 1

The visit of the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is an important sign that the Alliance is building a defensive border. This is not preparation for war, but a defensive strategy - protection of the countries participating in the bloc and the territorial integrity of the union. There are three defensive regions - Northern, Central and Southern, and Bulgaria falls into the Southern one. This was said by international analyst Dimitar Gardev in the program “The Day Live” on NOVA NEWS.

He pointed out that after his arrival in our country, Rutte emphasized NATO's main role in helping Ukraine. “It is very clear that Bulgaria is part of the front line of the defense alliance”, added Gardev.

“More efforts could have been made on the Bulgarian side for an official visit”, the expert believes.

He commented on Volodymyr Zelensky's request to strengthen air defense. “In the words of the Ukrainian president, it began to be seen that there will be peacekeeping forces there, that things are moving towards an end to hostilities”, pointed out Gardev. He added that the requests from the US are “categorical that an agreement must be sought”. In his words, the US special envoy for Ukraine is an extremely experienced general.

Gardev also said that the cessation of hostilities does not mean that Ukraine will not be supported in its just goals.

He explained that French President Emmanuel Macron was absent from the Ukrainian president's meeting with European leaders because "for a year he had been waving his plan, France's, which many countries had abandoned”.

"Ukraine survived only and solely because of the help from European countries and mainly from the United States,” the analyst also said.
