The Defense Committee supported the purchase of Link 22 communication systems for the new ships.
The deal for over 2,654,000 leva excluding VAT is entering the plenary hall for approval at the moment when the budget for 2025 is being prepared. And with the assurance of the Minister of Defense that there is money for existing projects.

The systems known as Link 22 will allow our new ships to securely exchange data with NATO aircraft and systems.
Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov reassured deputies that due to a clause, in exceptional and insurmountable circumstances, the US reserves the right to terminate the implementation of the treaty.
"There is no case in which the US has refused delivery. There are no such exceptional circumstances of war due to which they would refuse to deliver equipment to an ally. The hypothesis that they will not be delivered does not exist! There are no such cases in the implementation of the contracts for the aircraft. There is no precedent".
By June, the first new ship of the fleet - – "Brave" - will undergo tests. And it will be accepted into service at the end of the year. The second one – "Smeli" is expected to be in the Navy in early 2026.
