By the end of April 2025, the registered unemployed in the country were 148,895, according to the statistics of the Employment Agency. They add that the official unemployment rate in our country is 5.25%, which represents a decrease of 0.43 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024.
There are over 10 thousand vacant positions on the labor market, with the largest share of them being in the areas of “Manufacturing Industry”, “Hotel and Restaurant Industry”, “Trade“ and “Public Administration”. Employers are mainly looking for personnel for the service sector and workers in the mining and processing industries, construction and transport.
There is a positive trend among those starting work – nearly 20 thousand people found employment last month, with the help of employees at the Employment Offices.
Among those who have found a livelihood, there are a large number of people from vulnerable groups – people with disabilities, young people without work experience, people over 55 years of age, long-term unemployed.
„The active work of the Roma and youth mediators, as well as the teams from the employment offices, is also yielding results in terms of activating economically inactive people – over 5,900 people were motivated to join the labor market in April alone. From the „Employment Agency“ specify that they have assisted in improving the qualifications of both unemployed and employed persons. The measure aims to facilitate the adaptation of employees in the modern economy in the context of accelerated digitalization and transformation of the labor market.
