Every day in the country there is one more person who can boast that they have over 1 million leva on deposit in a bank, according to BNB data.
By the end of March, 1,895 people have deposits with over a million in them. Over the year, millionaire deposits have increased by 377, or 24.8 percent, writes Trud.
The largest increase is in deposits of citizens with large amounts in them. Deposits of citizens with amounts between 500 thousand leva and 1 million leva have increased by 22.9% to 4,013 in a year.
Deposits with amounts between 200 thousand and 500 thousand leva have increased as have millionaire deposits – by 24.8%, and are now 28,540. The increase is smaller for smaller deposits. And there is even a decrease in deposits of citizens with amounts under 5,000 leva. This shows that while the number of millionaires is growing, people with small savings in banks are forced to withdraw them in order to patch up the family budget.
More and more people are taking out bank loans in the amount of over 1 million leva, according to BNB data. By the end of March, loans for over a million were issued exactly as many as there are days in the year – 365. Millionaire loans for citizens increased by over 53% in a year.
