Thursday – May 15 will be a school day, regardless of whether the strike of the ground public transport will continue, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev told bTV.
Due to the effective protest today of bus, trolleybus and tram drivers in the capital, Terziev announced at the last minute on Tuesday that Wednesday – May 14, will be a non-school day in the city. Kindergartens and nurseries remained open.
It was initially announced that there would be no ground public transport in Sofia from early morning until 12 noon, but then the protesters declared civil disobedience and it is still unclear how long the strike will last.
According to the latest information, a strike by drivers of ground public transport in the capital will also take place on Thursday.
The metro is the only alternative for public transport throughout the day. “Metropolitan“ announced in a press release that the metro will continue to operate on May 15.
