If necessary, legislative changes will be adopted for greater transparency of pricing. This was stated to BNT by the secretary of the GERB parliamentary group - Hristo Gadzhev.
The reason for his comment was information from the National Revenue Agency about goods that are unreasonably more expensive by up to 40% in certain chains, in certain regions of the country outside Sofia.
"If we have to divide the measures that the state and regulators are taking - first, you have the preventive ones, i.e. information campaign, prevention, information, way of working, introduction including how people can exchange money more easily and more safely, which is extremely important and we must say that the Ministry of Interior is working very actively to guarantee for elderly people who have cash and need to exchange it.
On the other hand, the state, regulators, NRA, Consumer Protection Commission and CPC, what they do is real-time monitoring of prices. Within two weeks, the NRA has managed to establish and catch all kinds of fluctuations in the prices of consumer goods. And what Mr. Spetsov said yesterday that for the same goods - in Sofia there is no difference in prices, in certain areas, in certain chains only jumps of up to 40% are observed. Which, obviously, may not be market practice. And now, as far as they stated, "very happy days" await them these chains in question will explain in the coming weeks why they made these price increases", the MP pointed out.
"Not only the supply chain will be checked, that is, is there an increase in supplies, is there an increase in prices and costs that are incurred or is there simply an increase in the profit margin. That is why here, together with the Council of Ministers, colleagues in the National Assembly are working quickly and, if necessary, additional legislative changes for greater transparency of pricing."
The MP noted that within days an internet platform of the Consumer Protection Commission will be operational on how the prices of all products are formulated.
"Another thing that I would like to see is greater publicity for traders who have actually been caught in some uncompetitive and unfair practices. That is, Let us as consumers know who is speculating, which store is speculating, so that all consumers can now make an informed decision about whether to go to this store anymore."
According to Hristo Gadzhev, the government has no plans to update the budget, as claimed by "Vazrazhdane".
