The US authorities plan to allocate 2 million USD for a children's clinic in San Diego, which provides gender affirmation programs and supports gender reassignment procedures for minors, it is clear from the annual report on wasteful spending in the US federal budget.
Earlier, the US Department of Health and Human Services announced a series of measures aimed at ending the practice of performing gender reassignment procedures on children, which expose them to irreversible harm, including pharmaceutical and surgical interventions.
„With the completion of work on the budget for the fiscal year 2026, the Senate is again quietly pushing earmarked funds into bills that must be adopted, hoping that no one will look at them closely... One such item is the allocation of $2 million... for Radi Children's Hospital in San Diego, according to a report by Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.
According to the document, the item in question is identified as a budget item in the Senate proposal for the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services, which provides funding for the Radi Children's Hospital under the heading “Children's Mental Health Services“.
The report also notes that the hospital operates a center for gender-affirming care for children and, according to the senator, intends to continue such procedures even after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order restricting the use of such chemical and surgical interventions on minors.
In his inaugural address, Trump stated that the official policy of the US is now to recognize only two genders - male and female. In addition, on January 22, he canceled the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policy in the US government, calling it discriminatory. Trump believes that “inclusive“ practices can violate civil rights. The US president also called on his subordinates to encourage the abandonment of DEI policies.
