Sofia City Prosecutor's Office (SGP) charged and detained 21-year-old Teodor Iliev for 72 hours , the state prosecution reported.

This is the hacker who used the name of the banker Emil Külev, who was murdered in 2005.

In 2020, he announced on a hacking forum that he had siphoned off information from the database of a major payment service firm and was offering free access to it. It turns out that we are talking about bank account numbers with the EGNs of nearly 2,000 customers of a company for granting and collecting loans.

A private investigation established before 2022 that the then 19-year-old Teodor Iliev lived behind the pseudonym Emil Külev.

The charge against Iliev is for computer crimes – unregulated access to information systems of dozens of state institutions, commercial banks, insurance companies and other legal entities, copying and use of the relevant data from the information arrays.

It was established that the unauthorized access to the databases took place in the period from March 2020 to January 2024, according to the prosecutor's office.

The SGP will ask the Sofia City Court to impose a measure of remand on him “detention in custody”.
