Part of the six Bulgarians accused by Britain of spying for Russia watched over an American air base in Germany while Ukrainian soldiers were being trained there. This was revealed on Tuesday during a trial against the “Spy Cell”, as the Island case is called, at the Central Criminal Court in London, Nova TV reported.

A Crown Prosecution Service spokesman said they operated as a well-organised spy network. According to the information, they used 221 mobile phones, 495 SIM cards, 16 radios and dozens of other recording devices, including 11 drones, to carry out their assigned tasks.

The first operation, out of a total of six, for which the Bulgarians are accused, is for the American military base in Stuttgart. In order to monitor it, modern technology was needed to identify the mobile phones of the Ukrainian military. They were then tracked into Ukrainian territory so that they could be identified during the resistance. It is interesting that one of the two Bulgarians, Katrin Ivanova, was charged with this complex operation.

Ivanova also appears in some of the other operations. In one of them, it is assumed that she recorded investigative journalist Hristo Grozev with a hidden camera in her glasses during a flight to Valencia. According to the royal prosecutor's office, he was the other big target that the Bulgarians were following. They received assignments from the Austrian businessman Jan Marsalek, who is accused of one of the biggest financial frauds in Germany.

We remind you that two of the Bulgarians pleaded guilty in court a week ago. This is one of the main actors of the group, Orlin Rusev and Biser Jambazov. According to Grozev, the two defendants should have followed how he obtained information. Orlin Rusev told Jan Marsalek that he had the potential to organize the kidnapping of Hristo Grozev in Bulgaria.

There are reports that the “Spy Cell” were paid millions to carry out the tasks assigned to them by Jan Marsalek.
