He was born on October 23, 1964 in Santa Monica, California. Before joining the American band in 2003, he played with fellow legend Ozzy Osbourne.
His full real name is Roberto Augustin Miguel Santiago Samuel Trujillo Veracruz. His father was a teacher at the local high school. Trujillo began his career as a rock musician in the punk metal band Suicidal Tendencies, which he co-founded. Over the years, he played back and forth in the bands Infections Grooves and Black Label Society, while also taking part in several Ozzfest tours as Ozzy Osbourne's bassist, before switching to Metallica in 2003, filling in for the departed Jason Newsted.
Trujillo is famous for his spectacular playing style and stage demeanor, one of his trademarks during concerts being playing in an almost crouching position.
