The Russian cargo ship “Ursa Major“, which sank in the Mediterranean Sea, was the subject of a "terrorist act", RIA Novosti reported, citing data from the owner of the vessel, Reuters reported, BTA reports.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the ship, built in 2009, sank after an explosion in the engine room. Two of the 16 people on board are missing.

According to "Oboronlogistika", the company that owns the ship and part of structures affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defense, this is an attack classified as a "terrorist act".

Earlier, "Oboronlogistika" specified that the cargo ship was traveling to Vladivostok, transporting two large port cranes that were placed on the deck.
