The Samokov Potato Festival begins at 11:00 a.m. today at the central fruit "Zachary Zograf" in Samokov, announced the Municipality of Samokov, who are the organizers of the event, BTA reported.
There will be a children's holiday, and the presenter will be the singer Bogdan Tomov, the Municipality announced. Games and entertainment for children are scheduled until 12:30 p.m., and after the break, at 4:00 p.m., a potato peeling and frying competition will begin.
Mayors of town halls, deputy mayors and secretaries will have a major role in the competition, as they will be divided into a total of ten teams, and one of them will be from Samokov. The participants will bring the potatoes from the places where they live.
A jury will judge how the teams' potatoes are cooked. It will include the mayor of the municipality of Samokov Eng. Angel Jorgov, Venera Milova and chef Uti Bachvarov. He is expected to prepare a 50-kilogram meatball and fry potatoes.
The closing program will feature the singer Neli Petkova and the orchestra “Vivo Montana”.
The Samokov Potato Festival is organized under the patronage of the mayor of Samokov Municipality, Eng. Angel Jorgov.
