Commercial production of the tires is due to begin in 2025, but production processes have already started to test the capabilities of the facility under construction.
The Nokian Tires plant in Romania will have an annual capacity of 6 million tires once the facility is fully operational, with potential for future expansion. The total amount of the investment is estimated at approximately 650 million euros.
The tires produced at the plant in Romania will be sold mainly on the Central European market. The decision to build a plant in Romania was made after Nokian Tires sold its largest plant in Russia to Tatneft in 2023.
Even earlier, in the summer of 2022, the Finnish company decided to end its business in Russia because of the war that the Russian Federation started against Ukraine. The new Romanian Nokian tires will most likely appear on the home market as well.
