As part of its own conference in Anhui, China, Chery showed a prototype of a unique vehicle. It's an interesting mix between an unmanned hybrid vehicle and an electric vertical takeoff/landing (eVTOL) aircraft. He can move, both on the ground and in the air.
The vehicle is intended for the transport of two passengers. There is no steering wheel or gas pedal inside. It consists of three parts: the aircraft, the cockpit and the landing gear. The vehicle can switch between autonomous flight mode and autonomous ground driving. It is designed for short-distance travel in urban areas, thus aiming to reduce congestion problems.
Judging by the demo, during takeoff the plane separates from the car part and then on landing the two parts are reunited. A special fast and automated installation is provided for this. The flying car is built on the Chery S2ma Mars scalable intellectual architecture.
This platform is capable of flying at a height of up to 1000 meters and developing a speed of up to 120 km/h. The flight time is about 40 minutes, and during the tests the flying car flew 80 kilometers. There is still no time frame for the flying car to go into production and market, nor is the price of the Chinese flying car clear.
