Two brutal abuses in the theaters were caught, and from this starts a conversation that does not take any space from the political debate. Why? For the simple reason that there is no political debate. In the media space, there is nothing but talk about Bulgarian politics and the country. “With or without this scandal, we would hardly have reached 1% for culture. Simply, the system of the Bulgarian culture - we are talking about the state and municipal, not the private structures, where there is no way for corruption processes to go on, is problematic. It is an old disease that has now burst forth. Thus all the filth that is in it was seen. Or at least some of that filth, because maybe the whole system is vicious. And this is how we arrive at the financing system of these institutions”, the guest added.
“I am against the idea of looking for and assigning blame always to the minister and the deputy ministers… At least until they learn who is working behind which door, and they are no longer ministers. On the other hand, there are people in the ministry who have been working there for 20-30 years or more. They know very well what happens and how it can be covered up. The minister has hundreds of documents on his desk on a daily basis. When they give him a neat accounting report, what to do – signed. The problem is in the structure of the ministry - that's what I'm saying. What is now being said about culture can certainly be said about education as well. As they say – for a Bulgarian, theft is a national virtue. It has been cultivated for centuries. It is clear that the state is a stepmother, that it is an enemy, that it is an exploiter and must be lied to, cheated and stolen from. Clearly, what we are seeing is an unpleasant case. But if we look at what thefts we have talked about in recent years, then against their background it is petty cash. But it's worrying, that's the truth,“, Prof. Kapriev also said.
