Total discord in Moscow! Negotiations with Trump to end the war in Ukraine have not been exhausted - 1

Efforts by Russia and the United States to end the conflict in Ukraine are still alive, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said, quoted by "Reuters".

His words contradicted the statement of a senior Russian diplomat a day earlier.

Yesterday, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov indicated that the momentum from the August 15 summit in Anchorage, Alaska, between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump "has largely been exhausted" and accused Ukraine's European allies of torpedoing peace efforts.

However, Ushakov noted: "The claims that the momentum in Anchorage is weakening or that it has been exhausted are completely false. We continue to work with the Americans on the basis of what was agreed between the presidents in Anchorage".

The summit between Trump and Putin failed to produce any breakthrough to end the war, which has been going on for more than three and a half years. In recent weeks, the American leader has been increasingly critical of Putin.

Moscow is keen to stress that it remains open to a diplomatic settlement, but says it will continue to push for military action if a peace deal cannot be reached.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly said he does not believe Putin is sincere in his pursuit of peace and has accused him of delaying negotiations to prolong the war.
