The European Union (EU) economy is in terrible and downright catastrophic shape due to ridiculous climate and ideological goals, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said as he departed for an informal summit on competitiveness at the Alden Biesen castle in Belgium, Slovak news agency TASR reported, quoted by BTA.
EU leaders are meeting today for talks convened by European Council President Antonio Costa to influence the direction of the union's economic policy, amid growing pressure on competitiveness and challenges to the union due to strategic dependence on critical raw materials from third countries.
„I am heading to Belgium, heading to an informal summit where we will talk about what to do with the EU economy, which is in terrible shape due to ridiculous climate and ideological goals. It is better to say that it is in a catastrophic state. If we do nothing this year, first of all with electricity prices, Europe will become nothing more than an open-air cultural museum for rich Chinese tourists,“ Fico said.
The issue of high electricity prices was also highlighted during yesterday's European Industry Summit in Antwerp, which was attended by high-ranking representatives of about 500 leading European companies.
