Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which the two discussed the situation in the Middle East, the Kremlin announced today in a statement quoted by TASS and Reuters, BTA reports.
The two discussed the energy consequences of the conflict in the region, according to the Kremlin press service.
„A thorough exchange of views was held on the ongoing escalation of the military-political confrontation in the Persian Gulf region. It was noted that the intense hostilities are leading to serious negative consequences not only regionally, but also globally, including in the energy, trade and logistics sectors," the statement said.
During the phone call, the two leaders also noted their common positions on the need for an immediate ceasefire and the development of compromise peace agreements that take into account the legitimate interests of all countries in the region.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported that Putin continues to "work on the crisis situation that is developing and increasingly escalating in the Middle East."
