US President Donald Trump warned countries around the world on Monday not to deviate from the terms of recently negotiated trade agreements with the US after the US Supreme Court overturned its global tariffs, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
Trump threatened that if they did, he would impose even higher tariffs on them, under other trade laws.
"Any country that wants to "play games" with the absurd Supreme Court decision, especially those that have "robbed" the US for years and even decades, will face even higher tariffs than those they recently negotiated. BUYER BEWARE!!!" Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social".
The US president pointed out that despite the Supreme Court's decision, it does not affect his ability to use tariffs under other legal provisions "in a much more powerful and nasty way".
He hinted that the US could resort to new licensing fees against its trading partners, but did not give further details.
