The Israeli army confirmed that it had struck a petrochemical complex in the Mahshahr region of southwestern Iran.

According to the Israeli side, the facility was attacked because the chemicals produced there were used by the Iranian armed forces.

„During the strikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) hit a facility that is one of two central factories for the production of explosives, ballistic missiles and other weapons. "This is one of the main production sites for critical components for ballistic missiles," the IDF said.

Earlier on Saturday, the deputy governor of Khuzestan province reported that the US and Israel had carried out at least three strikes on petrochemical companies in the Mahshahr Special Economic Zone.

According to the ministry, the Fajr-1 and Fajr-2 petrochemical companies, Rejal and Amir Kabir were hit.

The Israeli Air Force simultaneously carried out two series of strikes on Iran and Lebanon, attacking over 200 different targets there, the Israeli army press service reported.

According to the statement, the strikes in Iran targeted military facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, weapons depots, missile development and production facilities and air defense systems. The statement added that a total of "dozens of targets" were hit in Iranian territory.

The Israeli air force struck missile launchers, weapons depots and command centers of the "Radwan" special forces. In total, more than 140 targets were attacked in Lebanon during this series of strikes, the army said.
