An anti-terrorist operation regime has been declared on the territory of Leninsky, Makhachkala and Kaspiysk Soviet regions. This was announced to journalists at the operational headquarters of the National Committee for Combating Terrorism in Dagestan, quoted by TASS.
"On March 31, 2024, the head of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan decided to introduce a regime of anti-terrorist operation in the administrative borders of the Leninsky and Soviet districts of the city of Makhachkala and the city of Kaspiysk in the Republic of Dagestan from 05:35 h.", reported the operational headquarters.
No further information is being released at this stage.
We remind you that on March 22 in the concert hall "Crocus City Hall" in the Krasnogorsk region near Moscow, there was an armed attack that claimed the lives of at least 144 people. The group "Islamic State" claimed responsibility for the attack.
Some of the bombers turned out to be Tajik citizens. Tajikistan detained nine people suspected of links to the mass shooting.
However, Tajik migrant workers are leaving Russia en masse after the attack. Russian authorities have been accused of stoking ethnic conflicts and anti-immigration sentiment after reports of physical abuse of detainees.
Dagestan is known as a troubled region.
