This came in the context of increasing military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, as well as Russia's continued aggression against Ukraine. The deputies emphasized the need for unwavering support for Ukraine, as well as increasing efforts for Europe's strategic autonomy, quoted by BTA.

Hungary's Minister for European Affairs, János Boca, noted that Russia continues to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure and confirmed that the EU will continue to support Ukraine in its right to self-defense. The European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, also called for continued support for Ukraine, stressing the importance of the country's accession to the EU. Reynders announced that by the end of the year, financing for Ukraine in the amount of 16 billion euros will be collected and informed that already over 45.4 billion. euros were mobilized within the framework of military aid.

The MEPs expressed concern about the danger of an escalation of the conflict, with some stressing the need for de-escalation and the search for peace talks. The MEP Peter Volgin from the group “Europe of sovereign nations“ indicated that support for Ukraine was strategically important to Europe's security, but warned that continued escalation could lead to a nuclear threat and escalation to World War III. He stressed that the EU's actions must be careful and coordinated to prevent a new global confrontation.
