The chairman of US House of Representatives Mike Johnson (Republican of Louisiana) confirmed that Republicans in the lower house of the legislature plan to consider providing aid to Ukraine in the form of a loan, TASS reported.
When asked by the leading television channel Fox News whether the Republicans who control the lower house of Congress plan to consider giving aid to Kiev through under form of loan, like former US President Donald Trump, Johnson answered in the affirmative. According to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, his views on this matter are "100% the same" from Trump's point of view.
„When it comes to helping Ukraine, he proposed a loan concept that I think is very important and that I think has broad support,” Johnson said.
In addition, the speaker of the lower house of Congress noted that it is considering the possibility of including in the bill a provision for the possibility of confiscating the assets of “Russian oligarchs” in order to use them to support Kiev. “I think these are ideas that can get support, and we are working on them,” Johnson said.
Earlier, Trump said at a joint press conference with Johnson that the US Republican Party is considering the possibility of resuming aid to Ukraine, but only as a loan.
