Kremlin stated that the delivery of American ATAKMS missile systems with an increased range to Kiev will not change the outcome of the war, but will create more problems for Ukraine itself, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
In recent weeks, the US has secretly delivered long-range missiles to Ukraine, which has used them twice so far, a US official said yesterday. The missiles were used for the first time on April 17 against a Russian airport in Crimea, which is located about 165 km from the Ukrainian front line, he specified.
"The United States is directly involved in this conflict. They follow the path of increasing the operational range of the weapons systems they supply," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. "This will not fundamentally change the outcome of the special military operation. We will achieve our goal. But this will lead to more problems for Ukraine itself," he added.
The question of whether to send missile systems (ATAKMS) with a range of up to 300 km has been the subject of debate in the administration of US President Joe Biden for months, Reuters recalls.
The medium-range ATACMS were delivered in September last year, the agency notes.
