Poland is still not ready to adopt the euro as its national currency, 20 years since part of the European Union. This was stated by Polish Minister of Finance Andrzej Domanski in an interview with TVN24, the Associated Press reported, citing BTA.

The Polish finance minister points out that there is currently no justification for Poland joining the Eurozone. The currency union includes 20 EU countries that have adopted the euro as their national currency.

Andrzej Domanski notes that by keeping its national currency - the Polish zloty, his country managed to avoid recession during the global financial crisis. Thanks to this, Poland has also overcome other shocks, the country's finance minister points out.

Tomorrow marks 20 years since Poland and nine other countries joined the European Union on May 1, 2004. The EU accession agreement also includes a commitment for Poland to join the Eurozone, AP points out.

For her part, the Polish Minister for State Development Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalencz, announced that as of March 2024, the country had received 261 billion euros from EU funds.

Poland's contributions to the budget of the European Union amount to 85.8 billion euros, says Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalencz, quoted by TVN24.
