Farmers bring hundreds of tractors into Brussels to protest EU's green policies - 1

Farmers entered Brussels with hundreds of tractors as a sign of protest against the green policies of the European Union, reports Reuters and News.bg. A few days before the June 6-9 European Parliament elections, farmers from the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland and Germany traveled to Brussels to protest EU environmental policies, which organizers say are undermining the competitiveness of European farmers.

We came because we know that the source of our problem is in Brussels. Because we want to change, deeply change the Green Deal, said Polish farmer Damian Murawiec.

It is the latest in a months-long wave of farm protests across Europe, where farm workers have denounced low food purchase prices, excessive regulation and free trade agreements that have left them struggling to compete with cheap imports.

The protest was organized by the Dutch lobby group Farmers Defense Force and supported by right-wing and far-right groups. The president of the Belgian branch of the Farmers Defense Force, Bart Dickens, said the Green Deal was unrealistic and Europe should reject it.
