Germany to buy 20 additional Eurofighters from Airbus. This was announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, quoted by "Reuters" and News.bg.
The NATO member country started spending more on defense after the invasion of Russian forces in Ukraine.
At the opening of an air show near Berlin, Scholz assured that he is strongly committed to maintaining and expanding weapons production capacity.
"That is why we will order 20 more Eurofighters before the end of this legislative session - in addition to the 38 aircraft currently in the pipeline," he said, adding that the order would give certainty to Airbus and its suppliers.
The German Air Force wants to replace its aging Tornado fighters with the Eurofighter, known in Britain as the Typhoon. Currently, the country has 138 Eurofighter aircraft in operation.
