Russian journalist Valery Kozhin died in shelling in eastern Ukraine

Russian journalist Valery Kozhin, covering the 27-month war in a village in eastern Ukraine, was killed in Ukrainian shelling, Reuters reported. quoted by BTA, referring to a statement by the mayor of Orlovka, Ivan Prikhodko.

Valery Kozhin, who worked for Russia's NTV television channel, was part of a group of journalists affected in the strike, said Prikhodko, the mayor of the village north of the Russian-controlled regional center of Donetsk.

Earlier, NTV television reported that three of its employees, including Kozhin, were injured in the village of Kholmivski, not far from Orlovka, and were taken to hospital.

According to unofficial data, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, at least 16 journalists have died, Reuters notes.
