Putin's autobiography updated - 1

For the first time since 2018, the Kremlin's official website has updated the biography page of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It includes chapters on the World Cup in Russia, the coronavirus pandemic, the adoption of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, a special operation in Ukraine and other events of the last 6 years.

The previous version ended with the re-election of Putin for a new presidential term in 2018. After the new elections - 2024 - the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that the page with the biography of the president will be supplemented.

This section of the presidential website includes events from the personal and professional life of the head of state, his memories of family, mentors, training and service, as well as key stages of the country's development during Putin's time in high office.

One of the chapters in the updated biography of Putin refers to the opening in 2018 of the Crimean bridge - the longest in Russia and Europe. The bridge has become “not only a symbol of Crimea, but also an important economic tool for its development”, the president's biography notes.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup, held in the Russian Federation, is highly praised, as it showed that sport cannot “not divide, not lead to fights and brawls, but unite people&rdquo ;. Millions of people - and more than 633,000 foreign fans - have changed their minds about Russia after getting to know its culture and people, Putin said, as quoted by Putin.

The 2020s section begins with a chapter on the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and the development of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.

„Russia withstood the test related to the coronavirus pandemic”, says Putin's assessment in the biography.

Special attention is paid to the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation approved by the majority of Russians in 2020. Their adoption is characterized as “one of the most significant events in Russia”, which confirmed the supremacy of Russian law, the defense of historical truth and the institution of the family.

One of the key events in the biography of the President of the Russian Federation in the 2020s was a special military operation in Ukraine. The decision to launch it was made in accordance with the UN Charter, as highlighted in the biography.

The purpose of the special operation in Ukraine is “to protect people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years”. and bringing to justice those who have "committed numerous blood crimes" against civilians, including Russians, recalls Putin's words.

The biography also mentions the referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as a result of which four regions became part of the Russian Federation. Behind the decision of their residents is a “common destiny [with Russia] and a thousand-year history”, the words of the president are quoted.

Putin's official biography now ends with the 2024 election, in which he was re-elected president with 87.28% of Russian votes on a turnout of 77.49%, and the signing of a new May decree on national development goals until 2030

In a complex world that changes rapidly, we must be self-sufficient and competitive,”, quotes the words of the head of state. “Our state and socio-political system must be strong and absolutely stable".
