Five people were killed and seven wounded in a shooting during a party in Chile, AFP reported, BTA broadcasts.
According to the authorities, the victims are four men and one woman. The party was held in Lampa, a town near the capital Santiago.
Most of those present were foreigners, the police said, without specifying their nationality.
President Gabriel Borich blamed organized crime for the incident. "This is extremely serious and deeply disturbing. I want to be very clear and say that here in Chile we will not allow organized crime to win the battle," he declared to journalists.
Although Chile is one of the least dangerous countries in Latin America, public opinion polls show that security remains a top concern for the country's residents.
