The United States has urged its citizens not to visit Lebanon due to the rising degree of tension between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah", reported Reuters .
The US State Department has raised its travel alert level for Lebanon to level four, or "Do not travel to this destination".
The White House said it believes further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East is not inevitable despite the elimination of the leader of "Hamas" Ismail Haniya, and added that Washington is working to achieve a ceasefire between Israel and the radical Palestinian movement in Gaza.
According to the US presidential spokesman on national security issues, John Kirby, it is still too early to say whether the latest developments in the region will affect the prospects for a cessation of hostilities.
The spokesman added that President Joe Biden's team is keeping him informed about developments in the Middle East.
