More than 6,000 firefighters are involved in the fight of the fire in the American state of California, which has become the fourth largest in the country's history, Reuters reported.
The flames have covered an area about 161 km from the state capital, Sacramento. The heat, reaching 38 degrees Celsius, also contributed to the spread of the fire.
The fire is believed to have been started by a man who pushed his burning car into a steep ravine near the town of Chico on July 24. Since then, more than 400,000 acres have burned, an area larger than Los Angeles.
The flames destroyed more than 560 homes. Over 4,000 people were evacuated.
The wildfire season has had an intense start, raising the risk of running out of firefighting resources. The National Interagency Fire Center has already requested help from firefighters from Australia and New Zealand, who will arrive from August 7 and be stationed in Oregon and Washington.
