Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched Operation "Revenge". This comes days after the Russian president promised a "worthy response" of the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region. In response, Russian military correspondents began distributing videos and photos showing destroyed Ukrainian military equipment and killed soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the German publication Bild reported.
According to Julian Röpke, an expert in open source data analysis, Ukraine uses 200-300 military vehicles and several thousand soldiers in the Kursk region. Russian forces managed to destroy about 30-40 Ukrainian vehicles, which is about 10% of the equipment.
Revenge has not yet brought Russia significant success. Over the past few days, Ukrainian troops have further expanded their presence in the Kursk region, capturing at least four settlements since August 14. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian forces managed to recapture only one village.
Röpke adds that Russia continues to move reinforcements to Kursk, bringing in troops even from as far away as Kaliningrad, Murmansk and Grozny. So operation "Revenge" just getting started.
