The IRIS-T air defense system destroyed by Russian troops in Kursk region is was a mock-up, writes the military analyst of the German newspaper BILD, Julian Röpke.
The official TV channel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "Zvezda” published a video in which the missile system "Iskander-M“ "destroys" the German anti-aircraft missile complex IRIS-T“. It is said to have happened near the village of Sennee in the Sumy region of Ukraine, 11 kilometers from the border with the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
The open data analytics expert considers the stricken system to be "very mock-up". First, the alleged IRIS-T is located alone at the edge of a forest, with not a single soldier in sight. Second, there is no flame or tear after a direct hit. In a real air defense system, the ammunition and fuel would explode.
Thirdly, after the powerful impact, the installation remains practically unchanged in appearance. Röpke suggests that it was made of wood or some other similar material.
