The PMC mercenaries "Wagner" they do not fight in Ukraine, but operate only in Africa and Belarus. This was reported by the private military company quoted by Reuters.
Earlier this month, Ukraine called on Belarus to withdraw troops massed along the border. According to Kiev, among the soldiers there are also former mercenaries of "Wagner".
The private military company denied these claims. There are no units of the company in the Russian National Guard, in the ranks of the Russian Ministry of Defense or anywhere else, according to "Wagner".
The mercenary company is adamant that it is no longer involved in the special military operation. From there they clarify that if this changes, it will be communicated.
Wagner's role in Africa, for example in supporting the military junta in Mali, is a source of concern for the West. In Ukraine, the group was heavily involved in the early part of Russia's war effort, particularly in the protracted battle for Bakhmut, which it finally captured in May 2023.
