Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he discussed today with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz the preparation of a second summit for peace in Ukraine, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The first such forum took place in June in Switzerland. Russia was not invited to participate in the meeting.
Zelensky was in Germany today, where he participated for the first time in a meeting of the Contact Group for Ukraine - the countries that provide military aid to the country attacked by neighboring Russia. At the meeting at the US Air Force base "Rammstein" he called on Western partners to supply more weapons and received such promises from the US, Germany and Canada.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius specifically announced that his country will provide Ukraine with 12 more self-propelled howitzers.
Zelensky separately talks "in private" with Scholz in Frankfurt.
"I highly appreciate the support for our efforts to get closer to a just peace," the Ukrainian president wrote in "X".
From Germany, Zelensky left for Italy, where he will take part in a political and business forum in the northern city of Chernobio.
